J - I remember feeling a mix of excitement and nervous energy before our Kopi Date! 🤪 Going in without any prior texting or info about the other person meant I had zero expectations — which actually helped me stay open and curious, without jumping to conclusions.

I remember casually asking if Zhen Yu wanted to check out the museum, since it was suggested in the itinerary. He replied, “No, it’s more fun chatting with you!” 🤪 That moment definitely stuck with me.

What happened after the first date? Who made the first move?

J - After we ended the date, Zhen Yu graciously offered to send me home, and I texted him to thank him 🤓

Since our first date, we chatted for a few days and we had initially planned for the second date to be on a Friday, but on Wednesday he had asked me for an impromptu dinner (he couldn’t wait to see me 🥰)

How would you describe kopi date to someone who has never heard of it before?

Z - Kopi Date feels different, in a good way. The anticipation leading up to the date creates this unique blend of mystery and possibility.

There’s something truly exciting about not knowing who you’ll meet, yet trusting that something meaningful could come out of it. It's a refreshing take on dating in Singapore, especially for those looking beyond surface-level interactions.

Any tips for singles going for their first Kopi Date?

J – The best thing you can do is to show up as your real, unfiltered self. Bring an open heart, and a willingness to listen and connect.
