Seven apps and three ways to meet offline, with the differences that matter when you choose.

Before you download another dating app, think about where you get stuck. Is it finding people who want the same thing, knowing what to say, or getting a conversation off your phone and into real life?
This guide covers seven dating apps and three ways to meet offline. They do different jobs. Meetup is for shared-interest groups; Lunch Actually is a matchmaking agency; Kopi Date combines curated coffee dates with guided growth.

Modern dating
1. Kopi Date
If you want to meet in person but feel stuck in the same dating patterns, Kopi Date brings together curated 1:1 coffee dates and guidance between them.
You begin with the Kopi Date Brew, a conversation with the team about you and what matters to you. The team then curates your coffee dates. Guided reflection and growth content help you make sense of each experience, notice your patterns and practise the skills a healthy relationship needs.
Membership plans include 3, 6 or 12 date experiences, from S$80 per date experience. This suits people who want support as they date and are willing to reflect on their part in a relationship. You still need to show up, stay curious and get to know the person in front of you.
A coffee date is a chance to get to know someone beyond their profile. Afterwards, take a moment to notice what felt easy, what felt awkward and what you would like to ask next. That reflection becomes part of the guidance between dates.
2. Bumble
If starting a chat is the awkward part for you, Bumble gives you a few ways in. In connections between a woman and a man, women can message first or set an Opening Move for their match to answer. In same-gender and non-binary connections, either person can start.Bumble’s messaging rules include time limits, so check the timer shown on your match. The app has free and paid features. See what is included in your account before paying for an upgrade.

3. Tinder
Tinder lets you browse profiles, swipe right when you are interested and chat when the other person likes you too. If you enjoy making your own introductions, the format gives you that freedom. A profile can only tell you so much, so ask about what matters to you once you start talking.
Matching and chatting are available free. Tinder also offers Plus, Gold and Platinum subscriptions with different extras. Check the current price and features in your account. Paying for more tools does not tell you whether someone wants the same relationship as you.
Coffee Meets Bagel sends daily suggestions in its Suggested section, with a new batch at noon. You can also browse Discover. It may suit you if you prefer a smaller daily set to work through instead of a long swipe session.
The basic service is free, with paid features available. The number of suggestions can vary. A promising profile is a starting point; you still need a conversation to get to know each other. See CMB’s guide to getting started.
5. OkCupid
If you like knowing what someone thinks before you say hello, OkCupid gives you questions to answer about yourself and what matters to you. It uses those answers to show a match percentage alongside profiles. Read the answers behind the number. Agreeing on paper does not tell you how a conversation will feel. OkCupid has free features and optional purchases; its developer’s App Store listing describes the question-based approach.
6. Muzz (formerly Muzmatch)
When faith is central to the life you want to build, it helps to meet people who share that intention. Muzz is for Muslims seeking a partner, with profile preferences that include religious practice.
You can use the core matching and chat features free, with paid Gold features available. Muzz also offers an optional Wali feature for people who want a chaperone involved. Take time to talk about how you each practise your faith; a shared label does not answer every question.
7. Hinge
If you struggle to open with more than “hey”, Hinge’s profiles give you something specific to respond to. You can like a photo or prompt answer and add a comment. When the other person accepts, you can chat. It helps to say what caught your eye. A question about a place in their photo gives them more to answer than a compliment alone. Hinge has free features and paid Hinge+ and HingeX plans. Its Discover guide explains how likes, comments and preferences work.
8. Grindr
Grindr helps gay, bi, trans and queer people connect with others nearby. You can browse profiles and start a conversation. Be clear about what you are looking for, since the people you meet may want different things.
The app has a free version and paid XTRA and Unlimited plans. Check the current features and price in the app before subscribing. For message alerts, check the notification settings in Grindr and on your phone.
9. Meetup
Sometimes you would rather meet people while doing something you enjoy. Meetup lists groups and events around shared interests, from walks to language exchanges.
It is not a dating service, so do not assume someone at an event is single or looking for a relationship. Choose an activity you would enjoy either way, read the organiser’s description and check any event fee before joining.
10. Lunch Actually
Lunch Actually is a matchmaking agency for people seeking a long-term partner. You speak with a consultant about yourself and your preferences, and the service arranges introductions.
If you are considering an agency, use the consultation to ask what the proposed package includes, how introductions are arranged and what support follows a date. Ask for the price and terms in writing so you can compare the service with other options.

Choose the part you need help with
Think about your last few attempts at dating. If you had good conversations but never met, try making a clear plan when you both feel comfortable. If you kept meeting people who wanted something different, say what you are looking for earlier.
And if you are tired of doing it all through a screen, our offline dating guide covers ways to meet in person. For curated coffee dates with support to understand your patterns along the way, see how Kopi Date works.
